The Great Roof Giveaway

Each year GSM Roofing and the Gooding Group Foundation give away roofing work to 501(c)(3) nonprofits in the communities we serve, and Delaware organizations are eligible. Entries are accepted April 1 through August 10, and the roof goes to the organization whose site visit, level of need, and community impact make the strongest case. The rules and entry form are on the Great Roof Giveaway page.
New Castle County Commercial Roofing: Frequently Asked Questions
Does GSM Roofing serve all of New Castle County?
Yes. GSM Roofing serves all of New Castle County from our office in Elkton, Maryland, about 20 miles from Wilmington and 10 miles from Newark. We work regularly in Wilmington, Newark, New Castle, Bear, Glasgow, Middletown, Hockessin, Claymont, and the surrounding communities, and our crews travel throughout Delaware, including Kent and Sussex counties, for larger projects.
Does GSM Roofing have an office in Delaware?
Our Delaware-area office is at 1633 Elkton Road in Elkton, Maryland, a few miles from the state line. John Gooding opened GSM’s second office in Newark, Delaware in 1987, and it moved to Elkton in 2009. The crews, estimators, and service technicians who work New Castle County are based there, not dispatched from Pennsylvania. Both office addresses are on our contact page.
What commercial roofing projects has GSM Roofing completed in New Castle County?
Projects published on our site include the Tremco AlphaGuard coating restoration at the Roxana Cannon Arsht Surgicenter in Wilmington, the custom color coating with a 30-year warranty on the Christiana Care HealthCare Center in Newark, which GSM originally roofed in 1996, and ongoing leak service plus an 83,000 square foot TPO warehouse re-roof for Emory Hill Real Estate Services in New Castle. The profile for each one lists the scope, the materials, and the numbers behind it.
Can GSM Roofing work on a hospital or medical building that stays open?
Yes, and we have done it in New Castle County. At the Roxana Cannon Arsht Surgicenter we applied an odorless two-part coating in 20-minute working windows during regular hours and moved the power washing to after hours so vibration never reached an operating room. At the Christiana Care HealthCare Center in Newark, the clinical offices stayed open through the whole project. We plan the sequence, the staging, and the noisy and smelly parts with your facility team before we start.
Does GSM Roofing offer preventive maintenance contracts in New Castle County?
Yes. GSM Roofing’s Exceptional Roof Protection Plan is available to New Castle County commercial property owners and facility managers. Plan customers get two preventive maintenance inspections a year, drains, gutters, and scuppers cleared on each visit, a completed checklist and custom inspection report, and cost proposals for any repairs. Leak calls are acknowledged within one business hour and repaired within two business days, or the repair is free. Multi-building owners manage everything through one customer portal.
Can a Delaware commercial roof be coated instead of replaced?
Often, yes. If the membrane is still sound and the insulation under it is dry, a fluid-applied coating can extend a roof’s service life by 10 to 20 years at roughly half the cost of replacement, with no tear-off debris going to the landfill. The right system also qualifies for a long manufacturer warranty: both Christiana Care projects in New Castle County were coatings over roofs that were 20 or more years old, and each carries a 30-year warranty. We confirm candidacy with an infrared moisture scan first, because a coating over wet insulation fails early.
How quickly can GSM Roofing respond to a commercial roof emergency in New Castle County?
Call 800-532-ROOF at any hour. Our phones are staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and your call is routed straight to the emergency response team; the emergency repair page explains what happens next. For critical emergencies we dispatch immediately, with a response target inside four hours. Standard emergency calls are typically handled within 24 to 72 hours. Crews for New Castle County come from our Elkton office, about 20 miles from Wilmington, so no one is driving in from Pennsylvania.
What roofing systems does GSM Roofing work with in New Castle County?
Every system found on New Castle County commercial buildings: TPO, EPDM, and PVC membranes, built-up and modified bitumen, standing seam and other metal, fluid-applied coatings, natural slate, clay tile, cedar shake, and vegetative roofs. GSM is a Carlisle SynTec contractor with more than 1,000 Perfect 10 installations, an Elevate Master Contractor, a Sika Sarnafil Elite Contractor, a GAF GoldElite Commercial Contractor, and a Ludowici Crown Roofer, and we also install Johns Manville and Tremco systems. The full list is on our manufacturers page.
