In May 2025, GSM Roofing installed a ladder fall protection system for TE Connectivity at their dock facility in Middletown, PA. This project was a safety-driven initiative to bring their fixed ladder into compliance with modern OSHA standards—specifically by replacing outdated fall protection methods with a certified Safewaze Ladder Climb System. From planning to execution, GSM’s unwavering commitment to safety, compliance, and doing things the right way made this prototype install a standout success.
This job was about more than hardware—it was about setting a precedent for how safety systems should be installed. While it may look straightforward on paper, the field conditions presented real challenges:
GSM Roofing’s techs approached the project with the same mindset they bring to every job: do it right, or don’t do it at all. After realizing the shop lacked the proper tool to cut the cable, they quickly pivoted—spending additional time sourcing the correct bolt cutter from PaulB Hardware. That extra half-hour ensured the cable was installed cleanly and safely, preserving the cable’s integrity and honoring manufacturer specs.
The team installed the Safewaze 20-foot Single-User Ladder Climb System, which integrates with a Personal Fall Arrest System (PFAS) and complies with OSHA 1910.29 and ANSI A14.3 standards. In just one hour on-site, the crew had the system fully secured, labeled, and documented for TE’s internal EHS compliance.

A ladder climb system is a vertical safety solution that protects workers climbing fixed ladders. It’s designed to arrest a fall and minimize injury, keeping your team safe and compliant with OSHA standards.
No. As of the 2018 OSHA update, cages are no longer considered adequate fall protection for new or repaired ladders. Facilities must use ladder safety systems or personal fall arrest systems (PFAS) for compliance.
Fall protection systems must be inspected before each use by the user, and at least once a year by a competent person. GSM Roofing provides guidance and documentation for all installed systems to support EHS teams.
PFAS stands for Personal Fall Arrest System. It includes a full-body harness, an anchor point, and a connection device (like a lanyard or cable sleeve). The system is designed to stop a fall safely and protect the worker.
Because safety isn’t a box we check—it’s a value we live. We bring certified expertise, the right equipment, and a “no shortcuts” mentality to every job.
