Storm Water Management

Planting a Vegetative Roof

Old Roof Before the Re-Roof and Vegetative
Many city storm water systems are at or near capacity, so coping with additional water run-off is a major concern. In the suburbs, constructing a new building or putting on an addition is nearly impossible without a large water retention basin. One method to address this concern and decrease the impervious space on your property is to install a vegetative roof. In many municipalities, a vegetative roof can offset or reduce these requirements. The depth of the growing medium is the primary driver for determining how much storm water a building can retain, so our green roof experts will work with you to build the right-sized system. Not only will you be managing your storm water, you’ll be getting a vegetative roof and all the other benefits that come along with them (see vegetative roofs).
